Introduction

FaceMode is real-time AI avatar service for developers, operated by InfinityLevel. A developer sends audio to the FaceMode API and receives avatar video, streamed into a WebRTC room that the developer chooses and controls (for example, a LiveKit or Daily.co room).

This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect when you use FaceMode, how we use it, who processes it on our behalf, and the choices you have. It applies to the FaceMode marketing site (facemode.io), the developer console (console.facemode.io), and the FaceMode API (api.facemode.io).

02

Account data

When you create a FaceMode account, sign-in is handled by Clerk, a third-party identity provider. Your FaceMode account holds:

  • Your name
  • Your email address

You can edit your name at any time from the Profile page in the console, and you can delete your account yourself from the same page.

If you join the beta waitlist, we collect your email address to send your invitation. Waitlist emails are removed when your account is deleted.

03

Customer content

To build avatars, you upload avatar images to the console. FaceMode accepts JPEG, PNG, and WebP images. The images you upload are yours: you can update them, download them, or delete them at any time from the console.

When you call the API, you send audio input that FaceMode processes to generate and stream avatar video into your WebRTC room.

04

API keys and usage data

You create, revoke, and delete API keys in the console to authenticate calls to the FaceMode API.

Each streaming session records operational usage data: the session’s status, its start and end times, its duration in seconds, and the number of credits it consumed. This data is shown to you on the usage dashboard in the console.

05

Billing data

FaceMode sells one-time credit packs priced in US dollars. Packs start at $5, each dollar buys 100 credits, and credits never expire. There are no subscriptions and no automatic renewals. Invoices for your purchases are viewable in the console.

At checkout we collect a billing name and billing email, and the checkout page presents card fields. Only the USD amount of the purchase is sent to the FaceMode API - your payment card number is never transmitted to, or stored on, FaceMode servers.

06

Data we do not collect

FaceMode is deliberately minimal about data collection:

  • We never see, transmit, or store your payment card numbers (see “Billing data” above).
  • Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights run on the marketing site and the console; both are cookieless and do not track individual users or collect personal data.
  • The marketing site has no contact forms and no newsletter signups, and serves no advertising or tracking pixels.
  • The marketing site itself sets no cookies.
07

How we use data

We use the data described above to:

  • Authenticate you and keep you signed in
  • Provide the API - generating and streaming avatar video from the audio you send
  • Store and serve the avatar images you upload, and let you update, download, or delete them
  • Record session usage and credit consumption so your usage dashboard and invoices are accurate
  • Process one-time credit pack purchases in US dollars
08

Cookies and session storage

FaceMode uses cookies in two places:

  • A session cookie on the API domain keeps signed-in sessions working.
  • Clerk sets its own authentication cookies on the console to manage sign-in.

The marketing site sets no cookies of its own, and the Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights scripts are cookieless - so there is no cookie banner and nothing to opt out of there.

09

Third-party processors

A small number of third parties process data in connection with FaceMode:

  • Clerk - provides authentication and account sign-in for the console.
  • Sentry - FaceMode’s applications can report diagnostic and error data to Sentry where error monitoring is configured.
  • Vercel - provides privacy-focused, cookieless analytics and performance measurement on the marketing site and console.

Separately, the streaming service that carries your avatar video - for example LiveKit or Daily.co - is chosen and controlled by you, the customer. FaceMode streams into WebRTC rooms on that service, and your use of it is governed by your own agreement with that provider, not by this policy.

10

Data retention and deletion

You control most of your data directly from the console:

  • Delete your account yourself from the Profile page
  • Delete uploaded avatar images at any time
  • Revoke or delete API keys whenever you choose

Usage records - session status, timestamps, duration, and credits consumed - and your purchase invoices remain available to you in the console.

11

Security

Access to the FaceMode API is authenticated with API keys that you can revoke or delete at any time from the console, so a compromised key can be retired immediately. Signed-in sessions rely on a session cookie on the API domain, and authentication itself is delegated to Clerk.

Card numbers never reach FaceMode servers, which removes the most sensitive payment data from our systems entirely.

12

Your rights and choices

Because the console is self-serve, you can exercise most choices directly without contacting us:

  • Edit the name on your account
  • Download or delete your uploaded avatar images
  • Create, revoke, or delete API keys
  • View your usage records and invoices
  • Delete your account

For anything you cannot do yourself in the console, email us at support@facemode.io (see “Contact” below).

13

Children’s privacy

FaceMode is a developer service and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us via the InfinityLevel site so we can delete it.

14

International users

FaceMode is an API service used by developers around the world. By using FaceMode you understand that your data - account details, uploaded avatar images, usage records, and billing contact details - is processed as described in this policy, including by the third-party processors listed above.

15

Changes to this policy & contact

We may update this Privacy Policy as the service evolves. The current version is always posted at facemode.io/privacy with its “Last updated” date.

FaceMode is operated by InfinityLevel. For privacy questions or requests, email us at support@facemode.io.
